FRISCO, Texas – Ezekiel Elliott was held out of Wednesday's organized team activities practice for precautionary measures after the All-Pro running back hit his head as a passenger in a minor car accident Sunday, the Cowboys said.
Elliott also did not participate in Tuesday's first OTA practice.
The Cowboys are scheduled to hold nine voluntary OTA practices over the next four weeks, followed by a mandatory minicamp June 13-15.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said he anticipated Elliott would return to practice next Tuesday when the team begins its second week of OTAs.
"We learned about it on Monday morning," Garrett said. "He was a passenger in a car accident on Sunday night. When he came in on Monday he had some body stiffness and some neck stiffness. So we got him checked out.
"We felt like it was the right thing to do to keep him out. He's done the dynamic warmup over the last couple of days, but we kept him out of the practice portion of it."[embeddedad0]
Elliott led the league in rushing as a rookie last season and made first-team All-Pro and the Pro Bowl.
