Editor's Note: As the Cowboys continue to finalize their coaching staff, here's an official look at several position coaches that have been in the news recently.
New Arrivals:
Doug Nussmeier (Tight Ends)
The Cowboys are expected to hire Nussmeier to replace the retiring Steve Loney. Nussmeier, a former NFL quarterback, has a direct tie to Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan: He was the Rams' quarterbacks coach from 2006-07 when Linehan served as head coach. Nussmeier also was offensive coordinator at five prominent college programs from 2008-17: Fresno State, Washington, Alabama, Michigan and most recently Florida last season.
Kellen Moore (Candidate for Quarterbacks Coach)
A formal announcement has not made yet, but team owner Jerry Jones said Moore - a backup quarterback on the roster since 2015 - is expected to join the staff. It's widely expected that Moore will replace longtime quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson, who had an expiring contract.
Kris Richard (Passing Game Coordinator/Secondary)
Richard is expected to fill the roles previously held by Matt Eberflus and Joe Baker, respectively. A former NFL defensive back, Richard has been an assistant coach with the Seahawks since 2010, including the last three seasons as defensive coordinator. He and the Seahawks parted ways after the season.
Paul Alexander (Offensive Line)
The longtime veteran coach for the Bengals is now taking his expertise to the Cowboys' O-line that has produced three Pro Bowlers for the fourth straight year. Alexander spent 23 seasons on the Cincinnati staff, recently developing Pro Bowlers such as Kevin Zeitler, Willie Anderson and Andrew Whitworth.
Sanjay Lal (Wide Receivers)
Lal is expected to replace Derek Dooley, who left the staff for the college ranks after the season. Lal has 11 years of NFL coaching experience with four teams, most recently with the Colts this past season.
Staying Put:
Ben Bloom (Assistant Coach/Special Projects)
Bloom is expected to move into the linebackers coach role vacated by Matt Eberflus, the Indianapolis Colts' new defensive coordinator. Bloom has been on Jason Garrett's staff since 2011, assisting Eberflus with the linebackers from 2011-13. He has also worked with the defensive line and special teams units.
Keith O'Quinn (Asst. Special Teams)
O'Quinn is expected to replace former special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia. O'Quinn has been with the Cowboys' staff since 2010 in various positions, including the last four with the special teams. The Cowboys are also expected to hire Doug Colman to an assistant special teams position. Colman, a former NFL linebacker, served as the Houston Texans' assistant special teams coordinator for the last four seasons.
Greg Jackson (Safeties)
Jerry Jones says he fully expects Jackson to be back on the staff next season.
Gary Brown (Running Backs)
Although he met with the Raiders and had interest from the Texans, Brown will be back in 2018, Jerry Jones confirmed. Brown just missed coaching his fourth straight 1,000-yard rusher this past season with Zeke finishing with 983 yards.
Moving On:
Matt Eberflus (Passing Game Coordinator/Linebackers)
Eberflus is set to become the Colts' new defensive coordinator. He had been the Cowboys' linebackers coach since 2011 and was given the additional title of passing game coordinator in 2016. He reportedly had an expiring contract after the 2017 season. New hire Kris Richard is expected to fill those duties in Dallas next season.
Turner West (Defensive Assistant)
After four years with the Cowboys, West is expected to leave the staff for a job at Austin Peay. West has held a variety of duties in his time with the Cowboys, most recently as an assistant to Matt Eberflus and the linebackers. Ken Amato is a candidate to replace him.
Steve Loney (Tight Ends)
The veteran coach is set to retire after 15 seasons in the NFL and over 40 years on the sidelines overall. Loney had been with the Cowboys for three seasons, including last season as the tight ends coach.
Rich Bisaccia (Asst. Head Coach/Special Teams)
After five seasons with the Cowboys, Bisaccia officially accepted the same title on Jon Gruden's new staff in Oakland.
Frank Pollack (Offensive Line)
After five years with the team, including the last three years as the full-time O-line coach, Pollack has taken the same position in Cincinnati. He replaces longtime veteran coach Paul Alexander, who is expected to oversee the Cowboys' offensive line.
Derek Dooley (Wide Receivers)
Dooley is headed back to the college ranks where he will be the offensive coordinator at the University of Missouri.
Joe Baker (Secondary)
Baker has an expiring contract and won't return to the Cowboys for the 2018 season. Baker has been the secondary coach for the last two seasons after joining the staff as an assistant in 2012.
Wade Wilson (Quarterbacks)
Another coach with an expiring contract. Wilson will not return for his 15th season with the Cowboys, the team has confirmed. The Cowboys have also acknowledged replacing the position, and Kellen Moore is widely expected to be hired in that role.
