Preseason is no time to risk anything. So the fact that Miles Austin isn't participating in Friday's walk-through is probably all the reason the Cowboys need to hold him out until he's 100 percent ready.
We'll talk to Jason Garrett after practice today and I'm sure a standard answer about Austin being "day-to-day" will be given. Who knows, maybe he will practice against the Chargers in a controlled scrimmage Friday afternoon at Cowboys Stadium.
But with the receiver depth already pretty thin – seeing that Kevin Ogletree is a starter opposite Dez Bryant with Jesse Holley working as the No. 3, it only makes sense to keep Austin out for a while.
And remember, Austin doesn't have to prove anything. It'll be more chances for the young guys like Dwayne Harris, Raymond Radway and maybe even Manny Johnson to step up with the extra reps.
