IRVING, Texas -For the second time in two weeks, a Cowboys player has won NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
This time, place-kicker Dan Bailey gets the nod for making three field goals, including two clutch kicks at the end of the game.
Bailey's 32-yard field goal with just two seconds left in regulation tied the game 20-20 and sent it to overtime. He then won the game with a 38-yard field goal with 6:07 left in overtime to give the Cowboys their second straight win. Bailey also made a 44-yard field goal in the third quarter to cut into Cleveland's 13-0 halftime lead.
Last week, punt returner Dwayne Harris won the NFC Special Teams award with a 78-yard touchdown return that gave the Cowboys a fourth-quarter lead en route to a 38-23 win.
This marks the first time since the 1992 season the Cowboys have won a specific weekly award in consecutive weeks. That year, Troy Aikman won it consecutively in the playoffs after games against Philadelphia and San Francisco. Earlier in the regular season, Emmitt Smith and Erik Williams won it in consecutive weeks.
For Bailey, it's the second NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor in his two-year career. He won the honor last year against Washington when he made six field goals, including the game-winner to account for all 18 points in an 18-16 win.
These two special teams awards are the only two NFC weekly awards the Cowboys have won this year.
