IRVING, Texas --LSU's Michael Brockers is among this year's top defensive line prospects and figures to be drafted somewhere in the mid-first round, right where the Cowboys pick at 14.
The redshirt sophomore probably helped his stock Thursday at LSU's Pro Day. He reported at 316 pounds, six pounds lighter than his combine weight, and improved his 40-yard dash time from 5.36 to 5.15 and 5.19 as well as his shuttle runs.
Granted, a 300-pound lineman's 40 time probably won't translate to the NFL much. But it's clear Brockers is a very good athlete for his size.
Some don't see a true position for him in a 3-4 defense, but defensive line/pass rush is an area the Cowboys have not addressed in free agency yet, besides franchising Anthony Spencer. A guy like Brockers would add to Rob Ryan's rotation.
