ARLINGTON, Texas – Linebacker Keith Brooking increased his practice reps from about 13 to somewhere in the low 20s Wednesday in his second practice back from a strained hamstring. He isn't sure he'll play Saturday at Minnesota, though.
Brooking said his hamstring felt good but got fatigued toward the end of practice. It's quite possible the Cowboys will rest him or play him significantly less than the rest of the starters in the customary "dress rehearsal" game. The starters won't play much, if at all, in next week's preseason finale.
"I want to be out there, there's no doubt," Brooking said. "Is it an absolute necessity? I would feel comfortable either way but I would love to get out there with my teammates in the third preseason game to get some live work with them.
"But I knocked some dust off (Tuesday) for sure. It was my first time in pads since January but it was like riding a bike. I felt much better (Wednesday)."
