OXNARD, Calif. – Of the many players injured here at training camp, one of them not in attendance is cornerback Mike Jenkins, who has returned to Florida where he spent most of the summer.
As expected, Jenkins plans to visit Dr. James Andrews, who performed his arthroscopic shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.
Jenkins is still about two weeks away from returning to practice. Coach Jason Garrett said last week he is hopeful the cornerback can be ready to play in one of the last two preseason games.
"His conditioning is certainly getting better," Garrett said. "His strength and range of motion are getting better, but Dr. Andrews did the surgery so this is a normal follow up to get his take where (Jenkins) is and a better feel for how we want to proceed."
Jenkins is currently on PUP (Physically Unable to Perform). If he's not removed from the list before the start of the season, he could be out for the first six games.
