FRISCO, TexasWith the deal done to keep Osa Odighizuwa in a Dallas Cowboys’ uniform for the foreseeable future, other dominoes can and have already begun falling. With the accounting more clear regarding the 2025 salary cap, and the Cowboys staring at a total of 22 unrestricted in-house free agents, they've also secured C.J. Goodwin on a new contract.

The veteran defensive back and resident special teams ace agreed to terms to return on a one-year deal for the 2025 season.

Having joined the Cowboys in 2018, this will mark his eighth season with the club, having established himself as one of the best special teams talents in the NFL, and his decision to remain in Dallas means he will forego departing to stick with special teams coordinator John "Bones" Fassel and assistant special teams coordinator Rayna Stewart — both of whom left to join the Tennessee Titans this offseason.

Though Goodwin dealt with injury that cost him the majority of the 2023 season, he was back in the mix full-time in 2024 and, overall, has played in a total of 88 games for the Cowboys since 2019, making him one of the most durable players in the league, as well.

His experience and ability will go a long way for newly-added special teams coordinator Nick Sorensen.
