FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys will have to replace one of their most consistent defensive linemen from last season.
Defensive tackle Terrell McClain has signed with the Washington Redskins, the Cowboys' NFC East rivals officially announced on Friday.
Contract terms were not disclosed, though multiple reports say McClain's deal is for four years and roughly $21 million.
After a toe injury limited McClain to two appearances in 2015, he started 15 games last season and posted career highs with 41 tackles, 2.5 sacks, eight quarterback pressures and two forced fumbles.
The Cowboys led the league in run defense last season, allowing only 83.5 yards per game, so McClain's departure could help the Redskins in that area. Washington ranked 24th against the run last season (119.8).
