Cowboys' Highest Draft Position In 25 Years; 2016 Opponents Determined

ARLINGTON, Texas – Finishing the 2015 season with a 4-12 record, the Cowboys are expected to have their highest first-round draft position in 25 years: No. 4 overall in 2016.

The last time the Cowboys were positioned higher was 1991, when they traded up to select Russell Maryland at No. 1 overall. In 1989 they were awarded the first overall pick based on record, and they selected Troy Aikman.

Sunday's Week 17 league scores also finalized the Cowboys' 2016 season opponents. The full NFL schedule (dates and times) is typically released in the spring.

The Cowboys will play the NFC North (Green Bay, Minnesota, Chicago, Detroit); the AFC North (Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cleveland); the corresponding fourth-place teams from the NFC South (Tampa Bay) and NFC West (San Francisco); and the traditional two games each against the rest of the NFC East (Washington, Philadelphia and the Giants).
