IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys will play their first-ever regular-season game overseas this November.
But long before the team arrives for its matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 9, club officials were in London over the weekend as part of a preparatory measure.
Cowboys officials, including members from the operations staff, player personnel and team security, went to London, touring the practice facilities as well as the locker rooms and playing surface at Wembley Stadium.
Part of the Cowboys' visit this weekend included a trip to Wembley Stadium for a soccer match between Manchester City and Sunderland in the Capital One Cup.
All six teams playing in London next season – Dallas, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Detroit, Miami and Oakland – sent team officials to check out the lay of the land.
The Falcons and Lions play Oct. 26, while the Raiders and Dolphins kick off the overseas games on Sept. 28.
The NFL started playing regular-season games at Wembley Stadium in 2007. Last year, two games were played in London, with Minnesota beating Pittsburgh and the 49ers defeating Jacksonville. [embedded_ad]
The Cowboys have played twice before in London, but not in the past 20 years and never in the regular season. The club faced Chicago in 1986 and then Detroit in 1993 in a pair of preseason games.
The rest of the NFL schedule will be announced in either late March or early April. With the Cowboys playing Week 10 against Jacksonville, it's expected their bye week will be in Week 11, allowing the players plenty of time to readjust their schedules.
