IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys waived three players, including injured linebacker Alex Albright, on Monday afternoon.
Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones revealed after Saturday's preseason game in Arizona that Albright would be lost for the year. The two-year veteran will have to undergo back surgery to repair a herniated disc.
Assuming Albright clears waivers, the Cowboys would place him on injured reserve following surgery.
The team also waived injured defensive linemen Travis Chappelear and Toby Jackson. Chappelear injured himself prior to the loss to the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon, while Jackson pulled a hamstring at training camp in Oxnard, Calif.
Jackson was signed on July 31 to replace injured defensive tackle Ike Igbinosun, while Chappelear joined the team just last week.
