FRISCO, Texas, -- The Cowboys signed cornerback Leon McFadden from their practice squad Saturday, filling the open roster spot created by fullback Rod Smith's release.
McFadden has played in 25 career regular-season games with the Browns, 49ers and Giants. The Browns drafted him in the third round in 2013. Released by the Giants at final cuts this year in September, he was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad on Oct. 24.
The Cowboys needed depth at cornerback with Morris Claiborne (groin) ruled out of Sunday's game at Cleveland.
