Cowboys, Texas Army National Guard Honor Coach of the Week Award Recipients

ARLINGTON, Texas—The Texas Army National Guard Dallas Cowboys Coach of the Week program concluded Sunday with its 10 award recipients being honored on the field at Cowboys Stadium.

Cowboys Executive Vice President Charlotte Jones Anderson, Lt. Col. Jason Hart and other members of the Texas Army National Guard presented the 10 Coach of the Week awardees to a full house at Cowboys Stadium before the Cowboys took on the Saints in their last home game of the season. The award recipients are high school coaches from the North Texas area, all of whom have been recognized for the positive impact they make on their teams, schools and community.

"The Dallas Cowboys are extremely proud to honor high school football coaches through the Coach of the Week program, and we are equally proud to partner with the Texas Army National Guard on this special initiative," said Anderson. "Cowboys football is about competition on the field and making a difference in our community off the field. We believe that honoring high school coaches, their teams and community is a way for us to say 'thank you' for their hard work in shaping young football players into the very best they can be."

The program, which spanned the length of the 2012 high school football regular season, included individual award presentations featuring members of the Texas Army National Guard, Cowboys mascot "Rowdy" and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at each of the coaches' respective schools. Each Coach of the Week honoree also received a $2,000 grant on behalf of Gene and Jerry Jones Family Charities to go towards the development of their football program or facilities.

The goal of the Coach of the Week program has been to honor and recognize high school football coaches while providing their schools with financial assistance to maintain and improve their football programs. Since the Coach of the Week program began 18 years ago, it has provided more than 170 grants totaling nearly a quarter million dollars to local high school football teams.
