FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys created an open spot on their 53-man roster Thursday by waiving wide receiver Vince Mayle.
With various injuries across the roster – nine players missed practice Thursday due to injury – the team could use the open spot to add depth at another position leading into Sunday's regular-season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles. Offensive line is a possibility with starting left tackle Tyron Smith (knee) and left guard Ronald Leary (back) not practicing so far this week and their playing status uncertain for Sunday.
The Cowboys signed Mayle from the practice squad in November after tight end Geoff Swaim was placed on injured reserve. Mayle played 36 offensive snaps in six games and recorded four special teams tackles.
