For the past 2 and a half years, Roy Thompson has devoted his time to working with North Texas Capacity Builders to build tiny homes for veterans in DFW. A Marine Corps veteran himself, Roy has spent countless hours picking up donated materials from retail stores, donated goods, showcasing tiny houses at events, and encouraging others to volunteer or donate to the program. He is one of the organization's most loyal volunteers and has helped numerous veterans already with his efforts. Thank you for all that you do, Roy Thompson, that deserves a Crown!

Bob Peterson

Organization: Keep Dallas Beautiful

For the past 2 years, Bob Peterson has devoted his time to improving Dallas' environmental quality with the Keep Dallas Beautiful organization. He has taken on leadership roles in the boardroom as the organizations' Treasurer as well as in the field, leading a major cleanup of Lake Hubbard. Additionally, Bob oversees and organizes many other volunteers to ensure they are always on-task and helping Keep Dallas Beautiful achieve its mission statement – to establish and implement sustainable programs to end littering, to beautify the community, and to improve recycling. Thank you for all that you do, Bob Peterson, that deserves a Crown!

Mary Ann Paquin

Organization: The Salvation Army

Mary is a hugely devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and finds every opportunity to support The Salvation Army alongside the Cowboys. For over 2 years, Mary has been a passionate volunteer promoting the Dallas Cowboys 50/50 Raffle on game days – selling raffle tickets to benefit funds going back to TSA. She has personally been responsible for raising nearly $15,000 to support the programs and services of The Salvation Army in our community. In addition, Mary isn't afraid to work up a sweat in support of the Army and America's team. For the past two years, she has also volunteered to suit up as The Salvation Army's iconic mascot, Captain Kettle, at Rowdy's Birthday celebration in 2018 and at the Dallas Cowboy's Reliant Home Run Derby. When she is not volunteering alongside the Dallas Cowboys, Mary is supporting multiple TSA events and causes, including the Most Good 5K and distributing gifts to families during Christmas through the Angel Tree program. Thank you for all that you do, Mary Ann, that deserves a Crown!

Charlie Webster

Organization: Allies in Service

Charlie Webster is a dedicated volunteer that has been assisting the veteran community through Allies in Service since 2013. She has donated over 500 hours providing support with administrative tasks and manning booths at job fairs, but Charlie is most known for the impact she makes during the holidays! Every year Charlie teams with her community contacts to ensure that unemployed or recently hired Allies in Service veterans and their families receive turkeys, hams, and completed dinner fixings for Thanksgiving. This followed by bags full of Christmas donations that are personally delivered by Charlie to each Allies in Service family to let them know that they are not forgotten.

Thank you for all that you do, Charlie, that deserves a Crown!

Organization: North Texas Food Bank

Michele Mecca has been deeply committed to the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) to support our mission and help feed hungry North Texans since 2008. In 2016, she joined the NTFB's Plano Committee, a group of volunteers hand-selected by Plano Mayor LaRosiliere to mobilize Collin County by raising awareness and improve community involvement through community driven efforts, like the Collin County Peanut Butter Drive. She's also committed countless hours by delivering the food boxes throughout the community, being onsite to assist with food drives and several NTFB events, standing as a beta-tester volunteer to help improve the Food Bank's volunteer experience, securing numerous speaking engagements for NTFB in front of key audiences, and volunteering 8 hours per week in our warehouse sorting and boxing food. Thank you for all that you do, Michele, that deserves a Crown!

Karla Ward has volunteered with Mid-Cities Care Corps' (MCCC) senior programs for over 4 years. Karla volunteers through all three programs offered at MCCC. Through the Transportation program, Karla drives senior clients to medical appointments or to get groceries or medicines as needed. With the Helping Hands program, Karla has formed a

"Girls Gone Mowing" team to ensure their clients' lawns look great all year around. Additionally, Karla volunteers through the Social Outreach program, helping at the monthly social that brings senior clients to a luncheon with games and socialization with others that helps break the threat of senior isolation and loneliness. Thank you for all that you do, Karla, that deserves a Crown!

Organization: Minnies Food Panty

Marisa is faithful and dedicated volunteer who serves every Thursday at Minnie's Food Pantry. Marisa bring smiles, laughter and hope to every family who walks the red carpet for food assistance at Minnie's Food Pantry. In addition to her serving weekly as a greeter at the front door, she has gladly accepted the role as a Minnie's Food Pantry ambassador. As a Minnie's Ambassador, Marisa is the voice and face of Minnie's as she advocates for hunger relief in North Texas. Thank you for all that you do, Marisa, that deserves a Crown!

Nazareth Vidal

Nazareth Vidal has distinguished herself as a dedicated and committed member of the Red Cross team. During the Hurricane Harvey Relief effort, Nazareth helped in the Dallas Command Center, working to house, feed and assist over 3500 evacuees from the Texas Coast. In addition, Nazareth has organized and led many home fire events. Currently, she canvases at risk neighborhoods to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms, and educate families about fire prevention and safety in Dallas County. In just one month, she installed more than 250 smoke detectors in 120 homes. Thank you for all that you do, Nazareth, that deserves a Crown!

Gena Byrd

Organization: The Mission Continues

Gena Byrd serves as the Fort Worth Platoon leader for The Mission Continues. Through her volunteer work, Gena empowers veterans to continue their service by leading volunteer projects for them in the community. As such, Gena has planned and led 19 service projects and volunteered over 175.75 hours. Her primary focus has been on a small community in Tarrant County called the Las Vegas Trail. Before The Mission Continues, Gena's legacy of service began in the military. She served as an Aviation Assets Manager for Marine Corps Search and Rescue Air Squadrons MCAS Iwakuni, Japan & MCAS Yuma, Arizona. Thank you for all that you do, Gena, that deserves a Crown!

Crown Royal believes that it's not about what you have, it's what you give and how you give it. This season, Crown Royal is honoring those in the DFW community who embody this generous spirit through the "That Deserves A Crown" program. Tonight's honoree is Maria Rivera. In the past two years, Maria has volunteered more than 575 hours at the Resource Center in Dallas. While working within the center's food pantry, Maria enjoys helping clients find the right foods to help them live a healthier lifestyle while utilizing her talents and personality to make the food pantry a welcoming place for clients. She is not only a hard worker and relatable figure for their clients, but she is also very reliable and always steps up to the next challenge! Thank you for all that you do, Maria, that deserves a Crown!
