While Tony Romo is just hoping to get healthy enough to play next Monday night against the Redskins, the Cowboys quarterback is being honored for a pair of league-wide awards that fans can vote for online.
Romo is one of three players up for the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week that shows the best moment of play that represents determination and perseverance. Romo returning to the field despite a broken rib/punctured lung to rally his team from 10 down in the final seven minutes to get into overtime was worthy of the honor, along with Buffalo's Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tampa Bay's Le Garrette Blount.
Fans can vote on nfl.com/gmc and the winner will be announced Friday on NFL Network's "Around the League" show. A fter the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners.
The Cowboys' quarterback is also one of three passers up for the weekly NFL FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week, along with Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford. The award highlights the top passers and runners of the week. Blount, Fred Jackson and Michael Turner are up for the "Ground" portion of the award.
Fans can vote for one player in each category on nfl.com/FedEx until Friday afternoon. The winners will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.
FedEx will support education efforts at Junior Achievement by making weekly $2,000 donations in the winning players' names. The funding, allocated to local Junior Achievement area offices in that team's city or state, is used to educate the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own small businesses.
