IRVING, Texas --When the lockout ended in late July, the Cowboys informed guard Leonard Davis of his release despite with years still remaining on his contract.
Now eight games into the regular season, Davis has signed a one-year deal with the Lions to back up another former Cowboy, Stephen Peterman. Detroit is looking to upgrade their 27th-ranked running game.
Davis started four full seasons at right guard for the Cowboys but was one of five veteran cuts in preseason, joining Marc Colombo (Dolphins), Andre Gurode (Ravens) and Roy Williams and Marion Barber (Bears). Colombo and Williams are starters.
