ARLINGTON, Texas --Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan liked his players' effort in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Chargers. He didn't like the number of mistakes made.
Head coach Jason Garrett thought the defense pressured QB Philip Rivers at times during the starters' three series, and the overall unit settled down as the game went on.
But communication -- like on Randy McMichael's 7-yard touchdown catch over Alan Ball and Anthony Spencer -- remains a work in progress.
"It's a work in progress. We obviously have to get better at that. It's really why you play the games. It's why we try to put our players in game-type situations in practice where things aren't so scripted.
"We have play-it-out situations, two-minute situations where defenses don't know the formations and offenses don't know the blitzes, and you see how they respond.
