OXNARD, Calif. –It was an inevitable question for the Cowboys head coach. What are the chances you bring in Chad Johnson?
"We haven't had any discussions about Chad Jonson," Jason Garrett said.
There shouldn't be too much reading between the lines on the statement. Despite their (possibly undeserved) reputation for the dramatic and an arguable need at the position, the Cowboys seem to be one of the last teams that would consider signing the artist formerly known as Ochocinco. After their own young wide receiver Dez Bryant was arrested on a domestic violence charge this offseason, the Cowboys wouldn't want to tacitly condone such a thing by bringing in Johnson, who was released by Miami on Sunday after allegedly head-butting his wife.
For the time being, the Cowboys will remain patient at receiver. Jerry Jones said last week the team would compare the available talent to the players already on the roster after the preseason.
