Fitting In: Davis is vying for a backup role at a safety position that lacks depth behind starters Ken Hamlin and Roy Williams. With Courtney Brown as Davis' likely competition at safety, Davis may have to find his niche on special teams.
So Far: Davis had been manning the strong safety spot on the Cowboys' second unit during OTA's and mini-camps with the absence of Ken Hamlin. But with Hamlin's return, Davis has been relegated to the third unit behind Brown and Tyler Everett.
Best Asset: His tremendous work ethic. The ability to give 110 percent at all times may give Davis the edge he's looking for in the backup safety competition. By his own admission, though, his tenacity can get him out of control sometimes. But maybe that's not such a bad thing for an in-the-box safety.
You Should Know: Davis is a huge fan of Michael Jackson and he listens to his music all the time. But he only likes the 1980's Michael Jackson - "the one with the S-curl," Davis says.
A Mouthful: "For an undrafted rookie, I think he's shown a lot," Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said. " He reminds me a little bit of a Keith Davis type because I think he's going to be a tremendous special teamer. He's a natural run player. He's got real good instincts in the running game and he's real physical and he can run real fast. So I'm looking forward to seeing him on special teams and maybe he can earn a spot there."
