Name: Marcus Dixon
Position: Defensive End
Number: 95
Height/Weight: 6-4, 294
Age: 23
College: Hampton
NFL Exp: Rookie
How Acquired: FA-'08
Hometown: Rome, Ga.
Fitting In: Despite having almost every defensive lineman back from last season, the Cowboys, like every NFL team, are looking for young talent on the defensive line and may have found a steal with un-drafted free agent rookie Marcus Dixon. Despite Dixon's athletic ability and because of the Cowboys depth on the defensive line, he faces an uphill battle to make the opening 53-man roster.
So Far: The Cowboys are very intrigued by Dixon's raw athleticism. During a pass-rush drill between the offensive and defensive linemen, Dixon was applauded by his defensive teammates for making plays. While it's difficult for any lineman to really stand out in practice, this 6-4, 294-pound rookie has caught the attention of the coaching staff, and appears to have more than a legitimate chance at making the Cowboys practice squad. He had one of his best practices of training camp at the end of the first week.
Best Asset: The former multi-sport high school star from Lindale, Ga., is a tireless worker. Dixon feels that his best asset is his work ethic, but the coaching staff is attracted by his unique combination of size and athletic ability.
You Should Know: One thing that people might not know, or assume about Dixon, is that his favorite television channel is Lifetime.
A Mouthful: "I used to always watch Reggie White. That was my favorite player. I've always thought he was a great player and a great guy."
