Fitting In: Jefferson will compete for a roster spot at one of the most crowded positions on the team - wide receiver. With the first four wideout spots likely going to Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd and Miles Austin, Jefferson will have to outperform a slew of undrafted rookie free agents as well as Isaiah Stanback for a spot on the team. Otherwise, Jefferson could be headed for another year on the practice squad.
So Far: After spending all of last season on the practice squad, Jefferson knows the offense and is a more instinctive player now. He's made several eye-catching plays, but will need to demonstrate more consistency to secure a roster spot.
Best Asset: His physicality. Jefferson has a knack for getting off the line and breaking press coverage. At 206 pounds, Jefferson has a muscular frame that allows him to get away from even the most aggressive cornerbacks.
You Should Know: Jefferson uses the jug machine quite frequently before and after practice, catching balls from speeds up to 50 mph. "If you can catch those fastballs," Jefferson says, "you can pretty much catch any quarterback's balls."
A Mouthful: "(The practice squad) was a great learning experience for me - getting to watch T.O., Pat (Crayton) and those other guys for a whole year, you know how they do on the field and see their work ethic in practice. It was just a good year of learning."
