Fitting in:Williams was picked in the seventh round of the 2009 draft by Kansas City, and after being released by the Chiefs spent time on the practice squads of the Seahawks and Texans. On Aug. 6, Williams was brought in by the Cowboys and thrown into the mix of training camp. Due to Phillip Tanner's injury, Williams, Lance Dunbar and Jamize Olawale are all in the running for the third running back spot.
So Far:Williams has impressed with his ability to grasp the playbook so quickly after joining the Cowboys in the middle of training camp. He has a very good burst of speed that allows him to hit holes quickly and he can catch well out of the backfield. If he can't stick on the roster, the practice squad is also a possibility.
Best Asset:Williams credits his ability to learn things quickly and his aggressive running style as his best traits. "I'm good at picking up offenses," Williams said. "Running the ball, I'm a downhill runner. I like contact, I like dishing it out."
You Should Know:Since 2009 Williams has bounced around to four different teams and believes it is all just a learning process that will help him in the future. "I've learned different mentalities of coaches," Williams said. "My rookie year my coach would always get mad at you. You just have to rise above everything. I just try to keep an even keel. Don't get too high, don't get too low and keep my nose to the grindstone."
Talking Point:Williams on his running style: "I like giving punishment rather than taking punishment."
