Name: Kyle WilberPosition: LinebackerHeight/Weight:6-4, 246Age: 23College: Wake ForestNFL Exp:RookieHow Acquired: D4a for '12Hometown:Apoka, Fla.
Fitting in:Kyle Wilber was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 draft after having an impressive career at Wake Forest. He joins a very deep linebacker core and will have to keep improving in order to expect any game reps. With the uncertainty of Anthony Spencer's contract situation the Cowboys will be keeping their eyes open for the development of young talent at the position.
So Far:With Anthony Spencer down, Wilber has been playing second team reps. He started off training camp a little slow and seemed to struggle getting any pressure from the outside. In the second week of camp he has picked it up looking very good in one-on-one drills and is playing better in his reps.* *
Best Asset:Wilber claims that he expects to stand out by, "being relentless and competing." In college he had a knack for coming off the tackles and getting to the quarterback. In four years at Wake Forest he had 13.5 sacks to go along with his 195 tackles.
You Should Know:Wilber says that once he is on the field it feels like football, but admits that there is a drastic difference between college and the NFL. He states a difference in the speed of the game and a change from "a twenty-play playbook to a 200-play playbook."
Talking Point:"I've had a lot of opportunities. I've had a lot of chances in the pass rush. I've had a lot of opportunities to show myself. DeMarcus Ware, Victor Butler and Anthony Spencer and a lot of vets have been helping me out, making sure I get in my playbook and show what I got."
