Goal-Line Emphasis; Who Replaces Barber?

SAN ANTONIO --The Cowboys' offense ran some spread formations in goal-line situations during Sunday's scrimmage. Monday, traditional goal-line installation was a primary focus.

"You need to be physical – that's a big theme for our football team – you've got to be physical," head coach Jason Garrett said. "Goal-line – both offensively and defensively – is a great indicator of how physical you are as a football team."

Marion Barber became the offense's primary short-yardage and goal-line back last season. Someone must take over now that he's gone.

With Felix Jones the primary rusher, candidates for Barber's replacement include Tashard Choice and rookie DeMarco Murray. Both are underrated between the tackles, but both are injured. First-year vet Lonyae Miller is a big back with speed.

"I don't want to give you an answer to say that we believe it should be a committee or it has to be one back," Garrett said. "We're going to see what the best alternative is and we still have time to decide that.

"It starts really with the Denver game on Thursday night. We'll be in those situations and we'll see who handles them the best."
