No wonder the backlash is greater when this team blows a big lead as compared to, say, the Eagles or Patriots, who have done the same in the last two weeks.
According to a recent Harris Poll, the Cowboys are the NFL's most popular team for a fifth straight year.
The survery of 2,462 adults picked the Cowboys at No. 1 ahead of the Packers, Steelers, Patriots and Bears. In the 12 years the poll has been conducted since 1998, the Cowboys have been ranked America's favorite team eight times, and finished second three times, during their lull in the mid 2000s. They were No. 4 in 2002, the last of three straight 5-11 season.
The bad news, though, is only 3 percent of respondents picked the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl, well behind Green Bay (24 percent) and New England (23 percent).
Just guessing here, but those lower expectations probably won't spare the team if they fall short.
