IRVING, Texas --A few more injury updates as the Cowboys approach the Sept. 11 opener at the Jets:
*Starting defensive end Marcus Spears said he'd return to practice Wednesday. Spears, who has been out since straining his groin Aug. 21 against San Diego, said he feels "solid."
*Backup tight end Martellus Bennett said he ran Monday for the first time since suffering a high ankle sprain Aug. 27 at Minnesota. Bennett hopes to play, but that seems doubtful right now given the team's initial 2-4 week timetable.
*Backup running back Tashard Choice said his swollen knee feels better after staying home on the team's final preseason trip. "From now on it's going to be making sure I have extra conditioning," Choice said. "That's the main thing right now. I'm in shape but I'm not where I want to be because I've been out."
