James, Kosier, McBriar Sit; Holland Returns

The Cowboys were back to work at Valley Ranch on Monday for the first of two practices before they depart for Miami and the preseason finale, and a handful of veterans were getting rest for bumps and bruises suffered against the Vikings.

Sitting out were linebacker Bradie James, who suffered a minor foot injury in the first half, along with guard Kyle Kosier and punter Mat McBriar, who was working out a sore groin on a treadmill.

Also out was tight end Martellus Bennett, who suffered a high ankle sprain, along with fifth-round cornerback Josh Thomas, who has hamstring soreness. Defensive end Marcus Spears continued to rest his strained groin.

Andre Gurode was also absent, with the team preparing to meet with his agent.

Guard Montrae Holland returned after more than three weeks of rehab, along with receiver Teddy Williams, who injured his hamstring when he collided with coach Jimmy Robinson early in camp.

Kickers David Buehler and Kai Forbath were both suited out, but did not kick during the portion of practice open to the media.
