At Saturday's Hall of Fame ceremony in Canton, Ohio, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters that he expects a new entry to the Cowboys Ring of Honor in 2011.
Jones didn't reveal a name, only indicating that it won't be new Hall of Fame enshrinee Deion Sanders. One report already states that wide receiver Drew Pearson will be the choice after a long wait.
It would be well-deserved.
Pearson played his entire 11-year career with the Cowboys, making three Pro Bowls and catching 489 passes for 7,822 yards and 48 touchdowns. He was a member of the NFL's 1970's All-Decade Team.
More important, Pearson was involved in so many of the franchise's indelible moments, including a Super Bowl XII championship and the famous "Hail Mary" catch from Roger Staubach in the 1975 NFC Playoffs.
