IRVING, Texas -- The 15-minute open portion of Friday's practice didn't divulge whether offensive tackle Tyron Smith or cornerback Terence Newman would play Sunday, but both at least seemed a bit more active before the workout started.
Smith did some position drills with a new brace on his hyperextended right knee, then stood off to the side again. He wasn't wearing cleats.
Newman, whom Jerry Jones essentially ruled out a couple days ago, did some conditioning work off to the side with a helmet but no jersey. He went inside as the open portion ended.
Jason Garrett has said he'd need to see Newman practice after the veteran corner missed the entire preseason. Smith doesn't have a hard-and-fast rule, though. Both will travel to New York, he said.
Cornerback Mike Jenkins (hyperextended knee) was back again after practicing on a limited basis Thursday.
Final injury report coming Friday afternoon.
