In 28 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, George Wasai not only started near the bottom of the organization, but has just about seen it all.
And now, Wasai has been honored for longstanding dedication to the Cowboys.
Wasai was named the 2018 Faces of Diversity Award winner, given by the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation. The award, sponsored by PepsiCo Foodservice, honors champions of diversity and inclusion, and restaurateurs who have achieved their "American Dream."
As the team's director of food and beverage for Legends Hospitality and the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, Wasai oversees all food and beverage aspects for the Cowboys, partnering with the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services.
Growing up in Africa, Wasai came to the United State in 1976. He joined the Cowboys in 1990, starting off as a dishwasher but worked his way up the chain to management.
"George is the American Dream," Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones said. "George Wasai has been so instrumental to how we have evolved with the Dallas Cowboys and with our venue of course at AT&T Stadium."
