I hate to be a dark cloud, but which of the potential free agents the Cowboys re-sign, including ours, do you think will be eventually considered overpaid, i.e. Marion Barber, Miles Austin, Jay Ratliff, etc.?
Bryan: I don't think you will see this team give a player a bad contract. They would rather have a guy like DeMarco Murray or Bruce Carter walk away than overpay them. This front office made some terrible decisions in the past that showed little faith in their personnel department to find players once they lost them. I believe that the attitude has changed for the better and if a guy comes up they don't feel is a right fit, they are more willing to move on.
David:This line of thinking is exactly why I think you'll see the Cowboys part ways with some good players this spring. In an ideal world, you'd love to see DeMarco Murray and Bruce Carter, among others, remain with the team. But the nature of free agency is to overpay for need. The Cowboys want to avoid getting locked into deals they'll regret in a year or two – remember Brandon Carr? Unfortunately, that means a few good players will probably be lured away, but it'll also be good for the Cowboys' long-term financial health.

I hope he stays, but if Murray signs with another team, wouldn't the Cowboys be in line for a third round compensatory draft pick?
Bryan: It depends on if they sign a player that replaces him out of free agency and how much that money is. The higher the dollar amount, the more likely you receive that compensatory selection but not until the following draft, which would be 2016.
David: That's one silver lining to the long list of free agents the Cowboys need to re-sign. Depending on who stays and who goes, the Cowboys could net themselves as many as three or four compensatory picks, by my understanding. It all depends on how many guys leave, and unfortunately, those picks won't be available until the 2016 draft. But it's still something.
