McFadden: Recovery From June Elbow Surgery "Coming Along Great"

OXNARD, Calif. – Running back Darren McFadden said his recovery from June elbow surgery is "coming along great" as he begins training camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list.

"Just rehabbing it right now, getting my strength back," McFadden said after Saturday's opening practice.

McFadden missed the June minicamp to have the elbow fracture fixed. He said Saturday he doesn't have a set timetable to return, though head coach Jason Garrett said in June that the team anticipates him being back at some point in training camp and possibly ready for the season opener against the Giants.

Running back is among the Cowboys' deepest roster positions. The team drafted Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick a month after signing veteran Alfred Morris to a two-year deal. McFadden led the team in rushing yards (1,089) last season.
