That said, Newman has been just about everything the Cowboys hoped for when they drafted him fifth overall in 2003: an eight-year starter and a two-time Pro Bowler. He hasn't been Deion, but he's been pretty damn good. And when he's right, like the first half of the 2010 season, he's still pretty effective.
He's needed if the defense is going to emerge from last year's funk. So cross him off your list, too.
