Practice Report: Murray Wears Helmet To Field; Still Limited

IRVING, Texas - The Cowboys took the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for their matchup with the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. Here are a few noteworthy observations.

-DeMarco Murray did join his teammates on the field with a helmet for stretches and warm ups, but he apparently spent most of practice on the sideline continuing rehab on his injured foot. There's still no specified date on Murray's return, but his presence on the practice field is a promising sign.

-The Cowboys added two new players to the practice squad this week. Rookie linebacker Jerry Franklin out of Arkansas was at practice wearing No. 98. Franklin spent time with the Denver Broncos and, most recently, the Carolina Panthers. Rookie defensive end Tevita Finau, a former Utah product, was at practice as well wearing No. 75.

-Defensive lineman Sean Lissemore sat out of practice with an ankle injury.

-Center Phil Costa and rookie safety Matt Johnson were both present for warm ups, but both used that time to continue to rehab ailing injuries. Costa is still recovering from an ankle injury and Johnson has had hamstring issues all season.

-Cornerback Mike Jenkins did not practice with the team on Wednesday as he sat out to recover from back spasms.

-Center Ryan Cook didn't practice with the team. He's nursing a sore knee, and with Costa still unable to practice, guard Mackenzy Bernadeau shifted over to take the reps at center while Derrick Dockery joined the first team at guard.
