FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys are working through depth issues on the defensive line as they begin their week of preparation for the Atlanta Falcons.
Several linemen were not taking part in the open portion Wednesday's practice, including Taco Charlton (shoulder), David Irving (ankle), Maliek Collins (knee), Daniel Ross (calf) and Antwaun Woods.
Head coach Jason Garrett did say he was hopeful Charlton could do something in practice, so if not Wednesday, perhaps Charlton will increase his workload as the week goes on.
Irving suffered a high ankle sprain in practice two weeks ago and has been sidelined since, but Garrett sounded hopeful that Irving will get "closer and closer" throughout the week.
To help with numbers at the position, the Cowboys are bringing back defensive tackle Aziz Shittu to the practice squad.
Starting offensive linemen Tyron Smith and Zack Martin (knee) were also not practicing during the open portion. Both players finished the Eagles game, however. Garrett said he expected rookie left guard Connor Williams (knee) to be limited
Wednesday after being inactive against the Eagles last Sunday.
Wide receiver Tavon Austin (groin) and linebacker Sean Lee (hamstring) continue to be sidelined.
