FRISCO, Texas – Slowly, the Cowboys are getting closer to full strength on defense.

Several players who have missed recent practices and games – safety Xavier Woods, defensive end Randy Gregory and defensive tackle Datone Jones – were on the field for the open portion of Wednesday's practice.

Head coach Jason Garrett also said he anticipated linebacker Sean Lee (hamstring tightness) "doing something" Wednesday. Lee worked on the resistance cords during the open portion of practice.

Woods opened preseason as the starting free safety but hasn't practiced or played since straining his hamstring in the Aug. 18 preseason game against the Bengals.

Defensive tackle Maliek Collins (sprained knee) is not expected to practice Wednesday, Garrett said. Center Travis Frederick (Guillain-Barre Syndrome) also continues to sit out.

The Cowboys (1-1) play at Seattle (0-2) this Sunday.
