While head coach Wade Phillips was rather vague in announcing which starters would play against the Dolphins on Thursday, he was clear about his quarterback position.
Phillips said third quarterback Stephen McGee would start the game and will probably go the entire way. Tony Romo won't play, along with most of the other starters. And even Jon Kitna will likely sit out the entire game as well.
So far this preseason, McGee has completed 26 of 45 passes for 220 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. His quarterback rating of 70.6 his actually higher than Tony Romo's 64.3 rating. In fact, McGee has rushed for 19 yards on five attempts for a team-leading 3.8 average.
But still, there are some people within the organization who don't believe the Cowboys should keep three quarterbacks on the roster. McGee will get the opportunity to prove them wrong Thursday night against the Dolphins.
