Rank'Em: Playing the reigning MVP at home

Week3_RankEm_hero

There is an interesting sidenote to this upcoming game against the Ravens – the Cowboys will also be facing the NFL's reigning MVP, Lamar Jackson. Remember, Baltimore's quarterback beat out Dak Prescott for the 2023 award after throwing for 3,678 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions for a 102.7 passer rating.

This will mark the 32nd time in franchise history the Cowboys will have faced the previous season's MVP. Just for clarification, when Dallas lost a 1995 showdown with the 49ers, 1994 MVP Steve Young was injured, and the Cowboys defeat of Cleveland in a 1966 battle came with 1965 MVP Jim Brown having retired.

Dallas will enter the contest owning a record of 14-17-1 in these games, which includes a 9-5-1 mark at home. The last time the team met up with a reigning MVP came just two seasons ago against Aaron Rodgers on Nov. 13, 2022 at Green Bay. That resulted in a 31-28 loss. But Nov. 3, 2013 against the Vikings, a 27-23 win, marked the last time this occurred when the Cowboys were the hosts.

So with that in mind, here are the top-10 games in which the Cowboys were the home team in a matchup they did not lose to the reigning MVP.
