Report: Brooking Sued For $2 Million In Debt

Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking has been sued in Georgia for nearly $2 million in unpaid loans, according to a Wednesday report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The suit, filed in federal court by Wells Fargo, alleges Brooking took out two loans totaling $2 million from the bank in August 2008, but has paid back less than $4,000 as of January.

The bank alleges that Brooking acted fraudulently in transferring assets, including real estate, to avoid repaying the loan.

Brooking's agent told the newspaper that the 36-year-old linebacker "is absolutely, fiercely defending himself in this lawsuit."

After growing up in the Atlanta area, Brooking played collegiately at Georgia Tech and then 11 seasons with the Falcons. He signed a three-year contract with the Cowboys in 2009.

Now set for unrestricted free agency, he still wants to play, and said recently that the Cowboys have expressed an interest in keeping him.
