IRVING, Texas --Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan shared some news that will put Sunday's Rex vs. Rob storyline in perspective: their father, ex-Bears defensive coordinator and Eagles head coach Buddy Ryan, is battling cancer again.
"He's been through it about four or five times," Rob Ryan said. "I'm sure the prognosis is great for him because he always wins."
Rob said his dad plans to attend Sunday's Cowboys-Jets game at Metlife Stadium before his scheduled operation.
"Obviously, we're praying a lot for him and things have to go well because that's what it is," Rob said. "But he raised us to do the job and whatever we do we're going to be the best at it and that's what we are.
"He wants to see these two rams bat heads, and we're going to get after it."
