Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was one of three nominees for the season's first FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week award.
Romo was among candidates Robert Griffin III and Matt Ryan for the Air Player of the Week. Ground Player of the Week nominees were Frank Gore, Stevan Ridley and C.J. Spiller, whose 169 rushing yards is the only total higher than Cowboys' tailback DeMarco Murray, who went for 131 against the Giants.
But Romo did make the cut, thanks to his 22 of 29 passing for 307 yards and three touchdowns in the Cowboys' 24-17 win over the Giants last Wednesday. Romo's 129.5 quarterback rating is third-highest in the NFL, behind both of these candidates – Griffin III (139.9) and Ryan (136.4).
Every Tuesday through Friday at 2 p.m. CT, fans may visit NFL.com/FedEx to cast votes for their favorite players nominated that week. FedEx and the NFL will announce the winners every Friday and award a $2,000 donation in each player's name to their local area office of Junior Achievement USA—a non-profit organization that brings the real world to students through hands-on curriculum, delivered by trained classroom volunteers.
