IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys must decide this week whether to activate rookie offensive lineman Chaz Green from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list or keep him on Reserve/PUP for the remainder of the season.
Green, the team's third-round pick, had hip surgery in June and has been on PUP since the start of training camp in late July. He returned to practice Nov. 11, starting a three-week window for him to practice while still on Reserve/PUP.
The recent practice time has been beneficial for Green, who hadn't participated in a team workout since the spring.
If Green is added to the active roster, he can provide depth at tackle or guard. Prior to his hip surgery, he initially was expected to compete for the backup swing tackle spot. Charles Brown, a fifth-year veteran, has held that spot since getting signed on Sept. 15.
In other roster news, the Cowboys waived rookie running back Trey Williams on Monday. The team signed Williams off Washington's practice squad Nov. 4. He was inactive all four games he was on the Cowboys' roster.
