Collegiate Career:McDermott was a three-year starter at center for the Hurricanes, making 36 straight starts. He also appeared in 10 games as a redshirt freshman in 2011. As a senior, McDermott and the offensive line helped the Miami offense generate high yardage totals against three top programs: Nebraska (435 yards), Florida State (492) and South Carolina (422) in his final college game.[embeddedad0]
Did You Know?McDermott was a first-team All-ACC selection as a senior, the first all-conference honors of his college career.
2015 Outlook:McDermott played almost exclusively center at Miami, but he got a chance to show his versatility by lining up at both center and guard during the Cowboys' offseason workouts. Seven-year veteran Mackenzy Bernadeau is the projected backup center as training camp nears, but McDermott will push for a backup interior swing spot on the 53-man roster or the practice squad.

- Smooth to get away from the line. Nice position to get his hands inside on the pass block. Will pull when uncovered.
- Mirrors his man in pass set. Can reach a one-tackle.
- Good job of finishing his block. Some push-shove, but stays after it.
- Gets to the edge when he pulls and out in space.
