Ryan Excited To Have Healthy Newman Back

IRVING, Texas – Cornerback Terence Newman practiced in Rob Ryan's scheme for about a week in training camp, then missed the next seven weeks with a groin injury.

Now Newman's back, listed as "probable" for Monday against the Redskins after practicing all week. It's good timing with corner Orlando Scandrick (high ankle sprain) still out and Mike Jenkins playing through shoulder and knee injuries so far.

"He's looked really good this week," Ryan said of Newman. "I think he's full strength . . . He's a playmaker. He's also an aggressive tackler. I think he's got great cover skills. We're looking for him to be outstanding in our scheme and our defense."

Newman has shadowed Redskins receiver Santana Moss in previous meetings. It'll be interesting to see how he's used in his first game back. Moss is moved all over the field, and last week the Cowboys used Alan Ball in the slot for Scandrick.
