FRISCO, Texas – A full breakdown of the Cowboys' sixth-round draft pick (No. 213 overall) Saturday:
Name: Donovan Wilson
Position: Safety
College: Texas A&M
Height/Weight: 6-0/199
The Rundown: Wilson was a defensive captain and three-year starter for the Aggies, posting eight interceptions in four healthy seasons. (He missed all but one game in 2017 with an ankle injury and received a medical redshirt. Wilson ranked second on A&M's defense with 66 tackles and posted a team-best two picks in 2018.
How He Fits In: The Cowboys signed veteran George Iloka in free agency but sought more safety competition through the draft. Looking long-term, backup Kavon Frazier is entering the final year of his contract, as is starter Jeff Heath. Wilson will try to crack the depth chart but will likely have to earn a spot on special teams first. The Cowboys have had recent luck with sixth-round safeties: Xavier Woods (2017 class) had a solid first year as a starter last year.
Next Cowboys Pick: 7th Round (218th overall)
