Salvation Army's Angel Tree Kick-Off at Northpark Mall

By James Baier

I had a great time drumming at the Salvation Army Angel Tree
Extravaganza at Northpark Mall on Black Friday. Performing for so many
people, most of which were kids, in the center of the mall on the biggest
shopping day of the year was a very fun and rewarding experience.

The crowd was full of energy and seemed to really enjoy our performance. Something cool came from our
performances at the mall as well. Rowdy, the Cowboys mascot, was
performing too, and during one of our drumming performances he came up
and started playing on my drum with me, it was a great surprise that all the kids enjoyed as well!

So we did the natural thing and incorporated Rowdy drumming into a
routine performed at the games now! But the fun didn't stop in the mall.
When fellow drummer Todd Jackson and myself got to our car in the parking
lot, we noticed a gentleman having trouble unlocking his car due to the limited amount of room with so many shoppers and parked cars. He couldn't reach the unlock button, but luckily we were able to help him and spread some holiday cheer.

Needless to say, he was very grateful and he helped us get into the giving and holiday spirit. I love helping others, and
I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunities I get to do that by performing
with the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Drumline!
