*Bryan Broaddus gives his scouting report on Cowboys' newest draft pick, Florida OT Chaz Green. *
Name: Chaz Green
Position: Offensive Tackle
College: Florida
Height/Weight: 6-4 / 314
Honors: In 2011, Green started eight games at right tackle for the Gators, earning Freshman All-American honors.
How He Helps the Cowboys:He's got the frame for a right tackle but has the quick feet to match. This offense has some smart lineman already and Green would fit right in. His awareness will also help him learn right away. If he's drafted, he could immediately be the swing tackle with the idea he could eventually start on the right side.
Scout's Take:Has played as a left and right tackle in his career. Is a tough minded player that plays with nice football intelligence. Is one of those tackles that really understands what is going on around him. Hard guy to fool or put in a poor position blocking wise. Knows how to pass stunts and twists without any problems. Discipline player in every sense of the word. Large man physically that moves well laterally. When he kicks away from the line of scrimmage he can put himself in solid blocking position. His feet can really be good in pass protection. Does a nice job of extended his hands but would like to see more pop or shock in them. Tends to catch the rusher more than punches them. Attempts to muscle his man. You will see him duck his head and use it to stop the charge of the rusher because he doesn't trust his overall strength. Will try and lean on the rusher. Will need some work as a run blocker when he is asked to block one-on-one. There are snaps where he will struggle with his overall sustain and finish. For his size he should not get stalemated as much as he does. Feet allow him to get on the second level and secure those blocks. Has to be careful not to play over the tops of his feet and become overextended. Have seen him end up on the ground some and that's due to becoming too top heavy. Love the fact that he could play on either side. Is one of those tackles that has a great deal of upside if given the opportunity to gain more upper and lower body strength – which I believe is the only trait that is holding him back. - Bryan Broaddus
