Apparently the dislocated shoulder that put Gerald Sensabaugh's availability for the season opener in doubt is now feeling good.
The Cowboys safety said on Monday he plans to play against the Redskins on Sunday night. Sensabaugh returned to practice last week for the team's lone session, a workout that included pads and helmets. And though coach Wade Phillips said he was not cleared for contact, Sensabaugh said he has tested the shoulder already.
Since the issue is whether the shoulder will stay in its socket when the safety lays a hit on someone, there was some uncertainty over when it would be OK to come back.
"I figured out a couple times last week when I went with the shoulder pads in 9-on-7," Sensabaugh said. "It feels like it did pretty good. We'll just have to wait and see, but I'm pretty confident it'll be fine. They told me not to have (contact), but I did anyway."
Athletic trainers have readied a stabilizing harness for Sensabaugh to wear in case he needs it.
"A little something," he said. "But I don't know if I'm going to wear it yet."
